Formed in 2005, Vancouver’s Mother Mother was originally known simply as Mother. When asked why they changed it , they said “Well, we had to change our name because there are other mothers in the world, besides general maternal figures. Instead of changing the name altogether and losing the steam that we built, we just doubled it up”. Mother Mother released their first album in 2005, under the name ‘Mother’, however it was retitled ‘Touch Up’ in 2007.

It wasn’t until the Vancouver Province rated Mother Mother as one of the top five BC bands to watch for in 2007 that they received high admiration for their debut album. In 2008, Mother Mother released their second album ‘O’ My Heart’, with it’s most noted songs being the title track, and ‘Wrecking Ball’. There are rumours that Mother Mother is currently working in the studio to release a third album sometime in 2011. Look for Mother Mother to take off in the very near future, especially with guilty pleasure hooks like candy, and television commercial friendly tracks (apparently that is how indie bands know they’ve made it nowadays.)
