CIVL in Abbotsford News on International Women’s Day
CIVL Radio is excited to be recognized in today’s Abbotsford News, dubbed by Neil Corbett as the Cultural Diversity Awards ‘big local winner’, and appreciates all of the support this community has given to CIVL Radio and its partners in diversity.
Special recognition needs to go out to Cultural Diversity Awards keynote speaker Nehal Azab, whose photo graces the pages of the news this week, on an especially important occasion, today being the 100th anniversary of International Womens Day.
Nehal described a powerful and evocative series of events in her keynote address at the Cultural Diversity Awards, recounting the visit she took back to her native Egypt, where she was in Cairo during the January protests that led to the impending regime change from President Hosni Mubarak.
It is the strength of storytelling like this that helps to keep local efforts alive, striving for open and more inclusive democratic practices at home and abroad, and it is storytellers like Nehal Azab who ensure that our community will continue to diversify and recognize the richness and vitality of the culture within.
Please continue to share stories of strong women in your community, and support their efforts.
