Who would have thought a vocoder could sound so sweet? The Courier News of Winnipeg, that’s who.

The Courier News have just released a new E.P. called “Fictures” and it is certainly worth a listen.  This E.P. is a great example of a functional and balanced collaboration which is much easier said than done.

The smokey sweet vocals of Alexa Dirks combine with the Postal Service-esque vocals of Matt Schellenberg over a complex soundscape of familiar indie elements. Throughout the music of the Courier News, the acoustic guitar and piano are accented with digital quirkiness of drum loops and the vocoder.
