JOY DIVISION? JAY DIVISION
Thursday, November 20th, 2008“I don’t like to let songs sit in my head for too long. So I record them and sometimes I end up hogging all the tracks. Do this four times in a row and you’ve got yourself a solo EP.” - Jay Arner (International Falls, Fine Mist, Poison Dart)
Yes, and that solo EP is Jay Division, a collection of synth filled tracks headed up, in my opinion by the super “Undiscovered Sun.” This EP, with its nod to the 1970’s group Joy Division is but one of the many products of Arner this past year. 2008 has seen the hands of Mr. Arner on various efforts including the work of The Magician, Tailor Island, and Ryland Bouchard.
Alongside this workin celebration for an International Falls cross-Canada tour this past summer, he churned out a Remix album combining samples from his work with International Falls and Poison Dart with the superb lyrical work of hip hop notables Young Jeezy, R. Kelly and Clipse. And to great success.
Then, he started a new band. Fine Mist. Then he moved from Langley to Vancouver. Then he started eating more sprouts than lettuce.
