CIVLCast 16 // Interview w/ The Brains

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

For the the past seven years, Montreal’s psychobilly horror-punk outfit THE BRAINS, have been terrorizing unsuspecting audiences worldwide with their dastardly and morbid mix of 50’s rock n’ roll, country and old school punk rock. Fronted by undead latin lotherio slash axeman Rene d la Muerte, The Brains round out their unholy posse with beer-chugging, standup bass-slappin Johnny Montreal and the gravedigging, drum-pounding rhythm stylings of Franck O’ Brains. (From The Brains profile on the Stomp Records website.)

Amos Evans of Psycho Radio sat down with Rene and Johnny recently to talk about the state of the Canadian psychobilly scene and their future plans.

CIVLCast 15// Interview w/ Koefte Deville of Mad Sin

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Koefte Deville of Mad Sin has seen and done it all in the underground world of psychobilly. From his origins as a busker on the streets of Berlin to Mad Sin’s status as one of the most respected and best selling bands in the genre, Koefte has lead every step of the 20-year plus journey. Psycho Radio host Amos Evans was lucky enough to get a phone interview with the legendary Teutonic madman on May 11th. Koefte was too ill to perform the night before in Vancouver, one of 4 dates he missed on the tour, but still took time out of his schedule to talk about all things psychobilly.

CIVLCAST 14 // Interview w/ Jeff Hawker

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Jeff Hawker is a Canadian folk singer/songwriter based out of Vancouver, BC. His album Dark Before Dawn was recorded in late 2008 and was independently released on February 13th, 2009. The album features fifteen original songs, including three instrumental interludes. The songs range from upbeat folk-rock (Shame on Me, More of Myself Without You) reminiscent of Ryan Adams, to soft haunting ballads (Numbed, Broken and Beautiful) that could almost fit on a Damien Rice album.

I just ripped that from Jeff’s website (Jeffhawker.ca). Can a man be better described by someone other than himself? Do others know you better than yourself?

We are proud to present the following interview with Jeff Hawker as part of our CIVLCast Programming.

CIVLCAST 10 // PyschoRadio w/ Paul Roman

Friday, March 6th, 2009

This week Psycho Radio presents an interview with the legendary Paul Roman of The Quakes. The Quakes started out in Buffalo, New York in 1986. They then traveled to England and became part of the historic Klub Foot scene, the only American band to do so. Paul has continued through many adversities to keep bringing psychobilly music to the masses. If not for the influence of The Quakes, the modern psychobilly scene in North America would look very different.

Psycho Radio is very proud to offer this interview, and would like to thank Paul Roman for making time for this interview.

It’s the 9th edition of our CIVLCast programming:
