R.I.P. Devon Clifford, 1 Year Later
Tuesday, April 19th, 2011CIVL Radio is disappointed to hear of the impending hiatus that You Say Party announced, a year less two days to the date after drummer and beloved Abbotsfordian Devon Clifford collapsed onstage at the Rickshaw in Vancouver, before succumbing as the result of a congenital birth condition.
In order to honour Devon’s passing, his life, and his memory, a benefit fundraiser is taking place on Wednesday, April 20th, at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, where The Tranzmitors, Hard Feelings, and Vicious Cycles, three CIVL Radio chart favorites, will play with Chains of Love, with all proceeds going to the Devon R.B. Clifford Memorial Foundation, which aims to support the musical aspirations of financially disadvantaged youth.
Tickets to this year’s event starting at 8 pm, are $10, and former YSP member, current Hard Feelings anchor, and event organizer Al Boyle says he wants to make this an annual event, according to Straight.com .
This is a great legacy to leave for a person who made an impact in life that is being honoured in passing by friends and family alike, and though CIVL Radio, and Abbtosford as a whole regrets the loss of one of our own, and the band that called him theirs too, we know that the groundwork laid will bare fruit in the not too distant future.
